Chief Commissioner Kite and the Commissioners of the Industrial Relations Commission welcome the announcement by the Treasurer and Minister for Industrial Relations of the appointment of Commissioner Janine Webster. A copy of the Ministers announcement can be found here.
There will be a ceremonial sitting of the Commission on Monday 3 December 2018 to swear in and welcome Commissioner Webster. Details will be announced shortly.
Commissioner Webster's extensive career in industrial relations and industrial law began with her appointment as an advocate at Australian Business Lawyers. Thereafter she moved to the role of associate to a Vice-President of the Australian Industrial Relations Commission (as it was then called). Commissioner Webster then practiced at the Bar in Sydney for more than three years, principally in the areas of employment, workplace relations and anti-discrimination law. There followed a succession of positions at the Office of the Workplace Ombudsman's (more recently titled the Office of the Fair Work Ombudsman) culminating in her appointment as Chief Counsel for the Fair Work Ombudsman in 2010.
Her extensive and varied experience within the fields of industrial relations and employment law ably equips the Commissioner to provide the full range of dispute resolution services to parties seeking the assistance of the Commission.
