Announcement - Commission's Registry Services to be Provided through Local Court, Parramatta

16 July 2004

The Commission has entered into an arrangement with the Registrar of the Local Court at Parramatta to pilot the provision of registry services at the Parramatta Court Complex, Cnr George and Marsden Streets.

The pilot will commence on 19th July 2004 and run for a period of three months.

The pilot arose out of representations made by the Labor Council of NSW on behalf of the many unions located in the Sydney West area.

Whilst the pilot has been established principally with the goal of meeting the needs of unions in Sydney West, this service will be available to other clients in that area.

For the period of the pilot, the Commission will have a senior staff member based at Parramatta Local Court. Any application that may be filed at the Sydney Registry may be filed at the Parramatta Registry with the exception of:

  • industrial disputes under s.130 [these should continue to be filed in the Sydney Registry in accordance with Part 5, Rule 27 of the Industrial Relations Commission Rules].
It is the intention of the Commission to review the pilot with a view to confirming the arrangement if proven that it is meeting a need in Sydney West. Any comments may be forwarded to the Industrial Registrar DX 874 Sydney or by email to nswirc@agd.nsw.gov.au
